Elephant: A Poem by Porter Tierney

183

The majestic animal she was

Riding through the forest like a goddess.

How lucky I was to feed her and brush her leathery skin!

Elephants are truly magnificent creatures

Their eyes look as though they are the galaxy

They should be protected and cared for

Since they are so loving and kind

Poached for their fabulous tusks

Ivory

People sell it for greedy money

How atrocious to do such a thing to an innocent being

Elephants are becoming extinct

Soon they will be ravaged and taken from this world

I can’t imagine a world without these glorious creatures.
