Many people throughout history have overcome adversity dating all the way back to the beginning of time. Many are very well known; however, one person that overcame adversity and achieved success, but is not as well-known is my mom.
She was born into a family that did not have a lot of money. No one in her family had gone to college so the stage was set for a difficult road, but my mom turned out to be a smart girl. During elementary school, she achieved all A’s and had a perfect couple of years. She also got all A’s during middle school and all perfect report cards in high school. She was accepted to Michigan State University and went onto graduate school at MIT, both very impressive considering her family did not have a lot of money. Also, she was the first one in her family to go to college. She then got a job as a car engineer at Ford. Another factor that she had to overcome was Crohn’s disease, a disease that makes people more vulnerable to illness and causes lots of stomachaches and trouble digesting food.
As you can see my mom definitely overcame adversity on the pathway to success.
