black holeStephen Hawking, a famous scientist, was born on January 8, 1942. He went to Oxford University and enjoyed dancing and rowing.

When he was 21, he was struck with ALS also knows as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The disease made him completely paralyzed because it shut down the nerves that controlled his muscles. He also lost the ability to speak when he got pneumonia.

One of his colleagues made a synthesizer for him to be able to speak and move around more easily in life. Stephen Hawking wrote about space, black holes, and time travel. He was able to do all of this even though he was paralyzed. Hawking also able to experience zero gravity at NASA and was able to be without his wheelchair.

Hawking was also in some movies about space, time, and blackholes. He has been onthe TV shows,“The Simpsons,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,“ and “The Big Bang Theory.” He has been called “The Rock Star of Scientists.” He has spent his career exploring how the universe began.

When Hawking was a child, his family didn’t talk at dinner; they all read books. His family also made fireworks in their greenhouse. When he was older, Hawking had a wife, Jane, and four kids. He was later divorced but became closer to his family after he divorced his second wife.

He is an inspiration to a lot of people because he has done a lot of research about the universe and is able to think in ways that many others cannot. Some people say he can think in 11 dimensions.
